Hey girl. Read the whole thing, please, but in short: we’re not interested in selling your data, and if you ever want it gone, just delete your account and it’s gone. Also, because the entire app is a collection of your content, we are going to use that content to show other people the app via ads and promos. Also, you should know that every outfit photo you post gets checked by a Google AI filter to make sure naughty bits aren’t shown. Google has its own policy around this, and they say they aren’t using it for anything other than a “is this bad, yes or no?” check (candidly, we’re looking for a more ethical solution to this because tech belongs to the people). We ARE tracking how you use the app, but only so that we can make it better and more useful for you and to make sure it’s not broken. Love you!

Girl Weather is operated by Boyfriend Solutions LLC (“we,” “us”) and governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. This policy explains what we collect and why. Questions? Email support@girlweather.com.

What we collect

Your email address; the screenname and optional display name you choose; your avatar and bio if you add them; and your location—either coordinates from your device or a US city/metro you pick—which we use to fetch local weather. When you post a vibe we store what you create: your outfit photos and the words, playlists, Pinterest boards, and poems you attach. We also keep your social connections (who you follow and who follows you, and the vibes you save) and basic usage signals, such as which vibes we’ve shown you, so the app can surface fresh looks. We do not collect or store passwords (sign-in is passwordless).

How we use it

To run your account, deliver weather-keyed style and vibe recommendations, keep the community safe, and, where you’ve agreed in our Terms, feature your content. We do not sell your personal information.

Automated AI photo screening

Before a photo you upload can appear, we run it through an automated AI classifier—Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch—that checks it for explicit or unsafe content. The classifier returns only a safe-or-unsafe signal; we use it solely to screen out content that breaks our rules. It is not used for facial recognition, identity matching, or advertising targeting, and Google’s handling of the image is governed by its own Google Cloud data policies. We’re actively evaluating a more privacy-respecting alternative for this step.

Product analytics

We use PostHog to understand how Girl Weather is used so we can improve it. We record product events (like posting a vibe or checking the weather) tied to your account identifier. We do not send your email, screenname, photos, or precise location to our analytics. We do not record your screen. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, we honor it and do not collect analytics.

What’s public

Girl Weather is a place to share looks, so some of what you create is public. Your screenname, display name, avatar, and any vibe you publish—including its photos—are visible to anyone and served over public web links. Vibes you keep as drafts are not published. Your email and precise location are never shown to other users.

Signing in

You sign in with Google or with a one-time code sent to your email. If you use Google, Google shares your name, email address, and Google account identifier with us so we can create and identify your account; your use of Google sign-in is also governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Service providers

We rely on Supabase (accounts, database, and photo storage), Vercel (hosting), Google Cloud Vision (the photo screening above), and PostHog (product analytics). To turn your location into weather we send coordinates—not your account details—to Open-Meteo, OpenWeatherMap, BigDataCloud, and RainViewer. We send sign-in codes and essential account messages through an email delivery provider. Pages may embed Spotify, Pinterest, and TikTok content, and Weather Girls may show a tip link such as Venmo; when you load or follow those, the provider’s own cookies and policies apply, and any payment happens off Girl Weather.

Cookies

We use a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in and a location cookie to remember the spot you’re checking the weather for. We don’t use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

Retention & deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. To delete it, email support@girlweather.com; we’ll remove your account, personal information, and photos within 30 days. One exception: if any of your content was already used in Girl Weather advertising before you asked (see “Your content” in our Terms), we may not be able to pull it from ads that are already running, though we’ll stop using it in new marketing.

Age

Girl Weather is for people aged 16 and older. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

When you sign up we ask your date of birth to confirm you’re 16 or older. We keep only the month and day—just enough to wish you a happy birthday—and never store the year.

Changes

We may update this policy; we’ll revise the “last updated” date above when we do.
